Rhotic Media Shines at PPA Independent Publisher Awards 2025

Rhotic Media is shortlisted in three categories this year

Two rising stars from Rhotic Media’s Degree Apprentice programme are making their mark on the UK publishing industry.

Niamh Smith and Evy Williams have both been named finalists in the prestigious PPA Independent Publisher Awards 2025 – a recognition that places them among some of the biggest talents in journalism today.

The PPA (Professional Publishers Association) represents the UK’s leading media companies, including Condé Nast, Future, Bauer Media Group, and Haymarket. Its Independent Publisher Awards celebrate the best of smaller, independent publishers - where innovation, creativity, and editorial excellence thrive.

Rhotic Media is shortlisted in three categories this year:

  • Editor of the Year – Niamh Smith (Financial Promoter)
  • Writer of the Year – Evy Williams (Capital Pioneer)
  • Launch of the YearCapital Pioneer

Smith is up against some of the industry’s most respected editors, including Louise Robinson of Saga plc and Pat Riddell of National Geographic Traveller (UK). Williams, meanwhile, finds herself in the highly competitive “Writer of the Year” category alongside Farida Zeynalova (National Geographic Traveller), Sienna Rodgers (The House/Total Politics), and John Earls (Anthem).

For both young journalists, the nominations mark a career-defining moment. Previous PPA award winners and finalists include publishing icons such as Edward Enninful (British Vogue), Mark Ritson (Marketing Week), and Dylan Jones (GQ UK).

Rhotic Media’s recognition doesn’t stop with its talented individuals. The company’s ambitious title Capital Pioneer has been shortlisted for Launch of the Year, underscoring the team’s innovative approach to financial and business journalism.

“Congratulations to Niamh and Evy for this hugely deserved recognition of the exceptional work they produce,” said Joe McGrath, CEO at Rhotic Media.

“We’re immensely proud of the entire team’s creativity, drive, and commitment – and to be recognised alongside some of the biggest names in publishing is a true honour.”

The winners of the PPA Independent Publisher Awards 2025 will be announced later this year.
